PROCEDURES
流程

REGULAR SCHOOL ATTENDANCE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT AND PARENT/GUARDIAN.

If a student is absent or will be absent from class or arrive late to school, the student’s parent or guardian must call the school office at 497-2655, (press1 for attendance) on the day of the absence. We prefer to have phone calls to report absences. If phone calls cannot be made, a note with a phone number where a parent or guardian can be reached will be acceptable on the day he/she returns, or the absence will be considered unexcused. The student has 24 hours to change the absence from unexcused to excuse. For the safety of our students an attempt is made to confirm all unreported absences. It is the family’s responsibility to provide current phone numbers. If, for some reason, a student or parent is unable to follow the above procedure, the attendance clerk must be contacted (attendance extension is 3010). Students who know in advance that they will be absent need to contact the office as soon as possible.

**Due to safety concerns, a parent must enter the building to sign for all student dismissals during the school day. If a student is to be dismissed to a person not listed on the student’s data file, written permission must be received prior to the dismissal time and photo ID must be provided.

A student absent for more than 4 class periods will not be permitted to participate in after school activities.

FOR ATTENDANCE, 3 TYPES OF ABSENCES WILL BE USED.

EXCUSED ABSENCES

1. Illness of the student. (Doctor verification may be requested)

Parental request places no obligation on the school to excuse students from school. Maintaining good attendance in school is best fostered when parents support the school and require their children to attend regularly.

UNEXCUSED ABSENCES

Absences will, under most conditions, be considered unexcused when they result from situations not mentioned in the excused absences or when prior approval has not been obtained from the principal. Some examples of unexcused absences are

TARDINESS
迟到

Students who are late for KORT must report to the attendance office before being admitted to class. Tardies for first hour through last hour will be handled via the classroom using the referral procedure.

A student who has three unexcused tardies will be assigned one session of detention. Each additional tardy will result in additional detention. Tardiness, which continues after detention has been assigned, may result in more severe consequences. Tardy tallies “start over” at quarter time.

REMINDERS
提醒

**Notes for any circumstances causing a student to be late for school are required upon arrival or the note must be brought into the office before the first hour of the next day.
**All absences, excused, unexcused, or truant will be counted as a day in non-attendance.

Naturally, the severity of the consequence will depend upon the degree and frequency of the student’s inappropriate behavior.

Within this setting, students have the opportunity to problem solve with a trained staff member. We believe that all behavior is learned and purposefully chosen to meet a person’s needs. Our goal is to assist our students in choosing behaviors that are need fulfilling, without disrupting others’ needs.

If this is not possible, place the medication in the pharmacy-labeled bottle, place the bottle in a sealed envelope and call the Health Assistant (ext. 3007) the morning the medication is sent, to inform her that the student is bringing his/her medication that day and how many pills are in the bottle. Non-life threatening medications (e.g. behavior medications, allergy medications, as needed medications, etc.) will not be given the same day they are brought to school. In other words, if these medications are brought into school on Tuesday, they will not be given until Wednesday. No teacher, administrator, volunteer, contractor or other employee of the school shall permit, condone, or tolerate bullying. Retaliation against a victim, good faith reporter, or a witness of bullying is prohibited. False accusations or reports of bullying against another student are prohibited.

Any person who believes he or she has been the victim of bullying or any person with knowledge or belief of conduct that may constitute bullying shall report the alleged acts immediately to an appropriate school district official designated by this policy. A student may report bullying anonymously, but action may not be taken against an alleged perpetrator based solely on an anonymous report.

The school district encourages the reporting party or complainant to use the report form available from the principal of each building or available from the school district office, but oral reports shall be considered complaints as well.

Submission of a good faith complaint or report of bullying will not affect the complainant’s or reporter’s future employment, grades, or work assignments, or educational or work environment.

The school district will respect the privacy of the complaint(s), the individual(s) against whom the complaint is filed, and the witnesses as much as possible, consistent with the district’s obligation to investigate, take appropriate action, and comply with any legal disclosure obligations.

Upon completion of the investigation, the school district will take appropriate action. Such action may include, but is not limited to, warning, suspension, exclusion, expulsion, transfer, remediation, termination or discharge. Disciplinary consequences will be sufficiently severe to try to deter violations and to appropriately discipline prohibited behavior. School district action taken for violation of this policy will be consistent with the requirements of applicable collective bargaining agreements; applicable statutory authority, including the Minnesota Pupil Fair Dismissal Act; school district policies; and regulations.
